VM Work Related Skills VCE Units 3 & 4 Practice Question 6a – Digital collaboration benefits

Q6a VM Work Related Skills Digital collaboration benefits Unit 3 - Area Of Study 3

You are a student employee on a casual contract at a small events company. Your team is planning a community open-day with staff working across two locations and some staff working from home. Last time the company ran an event, tasks were tracked on paper and updates were mainly done by phone calls and individual text messages. Several problems occurred: two team members ordered the same supplies, a last-minute venue change was not communicated to everyone, and the manager had no clear record of who approved changes.

For the upcoming event, the manager wants to introduce a digital collaboration approach using a shared online workspace (such as a shared drive and shared documents), a team messaging platform, and video meetings when needed. Some staff are worried this will create extra work and that messages will be missed.
