VM Literacy VCE Units 1 & 2 Practice Question 6b – Safe and respectful digital practices

Q6b VM Literacy Safe and respectful digital practices Unit 1 - Area Of Study 2

You are doing a one-week work placement at a community sports centre. Your supervisor asks you to help promote a new after-school program by posting information on the centre’s official social media account and replying to public messages.

A person sends the centre a direct message (DM) saying they are “a parent of a Year 10 student” and want to enrol their child. In the same DM they:

  • ask you to “confirm your identity” by sending a photo of your staff lanyard and your work email password “so I know I’m talking to a real person”
  • request the child’s enrolment be “kept private from other parents”
  • offer to pay by bank transfer and ask you to send the centre’s bank details
  • include a screenshot of another staff member’s personal Facebook profile and say “message them too, they respond faster”

You have access to the sports centre website and the official program enrolment form, and you can ask your supervisor for guidance.
